Seasoned sketch troupe Marv n’ Berry has pulled off another Fringe hit this year with the marvellously polished This Is A Robbery. Starting as they mean to go on, this self-referential show opens with a daring tongue-in-cheek gambit. Like watching high-end poker players at work, Marv n’ Berry is a team that really knows their craft, as they proceed to bluff, call, raise, and fold their way through a hilarious range of sketches during this enjoyable hour of new comedy.
Many of the sketches are longer offerings, which should come as no surprise. This is a group that knows how to develop an idea and craft it into a dynamic sketch. Taken together, the show may have benefited from a few more palate cleansers in between these larger courses. But that really is splitting the proverbials. This is a Robbery is a highly entertaining performance from a sketch group at the top of their game.
