Todd (Braden Butler) and Luca (Sheldon Stockdale) are a happy couple, hosting a housewarming-slash-Christmas party shortly after moving in together. One is into stars (he’s an astronomy student) the other is into Star Wars. But even a match made in heaven comes with complications. As they walk the audience through the twisting history of their relationship, it’s easy to forget this is a play. Instead, it feels like the cutest couple you know regaling you with the story of how they fell in love.
The pair don’t have a perfect relationship—they each have their share of insecurities, brought to life with natural performances from both actors—making it feel relatable and real. The world needs more queer joy, and Fags in Space sets out to deliver with a happy ending that seems written in the stars.
